Groove Manuva play all sorts of events! They are a professional party, function and wedding band for hire in Yorkshire and play a wide range of music from modern chart, indie, motown and soul. The band can appear as anything from the 4 piece core band up to an 8 piece show band.
Headed up by their powerhouse vocalist, Groove Manuva are one of the best funky, modern sounding bands around. Mixing fresh, up to date songs with classic tunes (with their own twist) the band have a proven track record of super happy clients. Expect modern hits from the likes of Jess Glynne, The 1975 and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers through to funk and soul classics from James Brown and Stevie Wonder.
Members of Groove Manuva have been entertaining audiences for the last 20 years and with the band in it's current line up for the last 10 years. We have a wealth of experience between us ranging from performances on the Jools Holland show, the Montreux jazz festival, Glastonbury, T in the Park, European festivals, SXSW in Texas and as part of the BBC Yorkshire symphony orchestra. Members have also performed alongside the likes of the Happy Mondays, Coldplay, Underworld, the Kaiser Chiefs, Joe Strummer and Kate Nash.
The band usually perform for 2 X 60 minute sets at most events. They provide a free laptop playlist service for the breaks and at the end or they can do a full DJ service taking requests for an extra fee.
The live playlist consists of songs taken from our big songlist - However we have a core set of songs that we know fit together really well as a set and are guaranteed to get people up dancing and having a great time! We welcome people to make suggestions from our songlist, but you can also be confident in leaving it to us to pick a really good list for your event. We know what works so why not rely on our experience?!
The band can also provide acoustic music for your afternoon reception as an addition to a band booking or as a stand alone act. The acoustic act consists of acoustic guitar with female vocals and saxophone. It's a really nice chilled out duo who provide a contemporary, relaxed atmosphere to any event you might be having.
If you would like to book our selfie photopod please let us know when you get in touch. This is a self contained 'photobooth' which we can provide which comes with lots of props and a touch screen pod so that you can get some awesome snaps of you and your friends. The pod will email or text the photos to your guest's phones and we can send you all the photos from the night the day after your event.
We are happy to learn a live first dance if you are booking us for your wedding. Alternatively we can play the original version of something from our laptop if you would prefer.
Band members are generally from Leeds and Manchester and as such, the events we perform at tend to be across the north of England and usually in places such as Leeds, York, Sheffield, Manchester, Harrogate and Liverpool. The band are easily available within about a 100 mile radius of the Yorkshire and Lancashire regions but do often perform in areas further afield. Travel costs will be included in any quotes that we provide.
Groove Manuva are all professional musicians and as such, individual members are occasionally away with other work. In that instance we have a list of exceptional backup musicians who slot in to the band seamlessly so our line up at a given event may be slightly different from our promotional video.
We provide this standard service for parties and events up to 300 people
We understand that every event is different. We will speak to you leading up to your event and make sure that our service is tailored to your requirements. Your venue may need the band to be there at a certain time and to follow certain rules/regulations. We are happy to speak to the venue on your behalf and make sure that things run as smoothly as they can.

Arrival and soundcheck
We can arrive at your event from 5.30pm on the day and will need parking close to the venue with a clear way to bring equipment into the venue. The full set up process usually takes us about 90 minutes. We will discretely load our equipment into the venue being as careful as we can not to disturb guests. We will need to spend at least 30 minutes playing full volume to check levels and get the sound as good as possible towards the end of the set-up process. If an earlier set up time is needed then we can accommodate this but there may be an extra cost.
After setting up
We will set up some background music through our sound system whilst your guests arrive and we go to get changed into our stage clothes. This is usually when we would eat so we request that the caterers know to provide meals and soft drinks/tea/coffee for the band. We also need somewhere to get changed – usually the venue is happy to provide a room for that purpose. If it’s not practical to eat at this point then it’s fine to arrange it for the first break.
At the agreed time we will start the first set and at this point you can just leave everything else to us and enjoy yourselves! We play for about one hour and will then take a break, leaving music playing from our laptop so your guests can carry on dancing if they would like to.
Second set and the end of the night
By this point the party should be really swinging! We will play about another hour of live music, making sure you are all having a really good time. When we finish we will keep carefully selected music playing through our sound system until our contracted end time (12am). The packing down process usually takes about one hour.
